Osa Renko

Registered Patent Attorney · Renko Law

I am a registered patent attorney, USPTO Registration No. 79,822, admitted to practice law in Indiana in 2025 and in Illinois in 2026. Renko Law is a solo practice, so the person who takes the call is the person who writes the application.

Before law, I spent ten years at Cummins Inc. as an electronic controls engineer. That work covered engine calibration, embedded software for diesel engine simulation and fuel control, regression-based virtual sensors, EPA compliance, and service readiness for battery electric vehicles. It was a decade of reading other engineers' designs closely enough to make them work in production, which is most of what patent drafting turns out to be.

I then worked as a patent agent at Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath and at Barnes & Thornburg, drafting and prosecuting applications across medical device, software, automotive, gas turbine, hydrogen fuel cell, and design subject matter. I have drafted or prosecuted more than 100 patent matters.

I hold a J.D. from Indiana University McKinney School of Law, an M.S. in Systems Engineering and an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from Florida Institute of Technology, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology.

The firm's clients are technology companies, manufacturers, inventors, and other law firms that need technical depth on a matter. Fees are published, and the practice areas describe the scope of the work.
